Location and accessibility
The Gallo-Roman Museum is located in Tongeren, the country’s oldest city. The museum is situated in the centre of the city, not far from Our Blessed Lady Basilica. You cannot miss it from there.

Tongeren is less than one hour away from Antwerp, Brussels or Aachen by car. From Hasselt, Liège or Maastricht you are here in 30 minutes.

It is best to park your vehicle in 'De Motten’ car park (close to/at Kastanjewal). The museum is a 10-minute walk from this free car park. If you prefer to be closer, you can opt for the fee-paying Q-Park urban car parks, all of which are a few minutes away on foot.
It is best for coaches to be parked on/at Eeuwfeestwal (10-minute walk) or at Fonteindreef - Pliniuspark (20-minute walk). If the latter option is chosen, it is best for the passengers to alight at Sint-Truiderstraat.
Tongeren is a stop along the Antwerp - Hasselt - Liège route. Starting from Brussels, Tongeren is easy to reach via Hasselt or Liège. It takes 1.5 to 2 hours. The station is a 10-minute walk from the museum. NMBS timetable: www.belgianrail.be
Practical advice! Use the B-excursion-'Timeless Beauty' (N° 568) to combine the train journey there and back and entry to the exhibition in one inexpensive ticket.
