Domein Beukenberg/ Bos Beukenberg is the final piece and the only remaining of a one-kilometre-long aqueduct, which carried water to the city during the Roman period. It is an impressive artificial earthen wall. The top of the wall was presumably the location of a covered wooden gutter through which the water flowed. The present-day wooded ridge offers an opportunity to enjoy a pleasant walk.
This is a protected archaeological site!
